This DIY macrame wall hanging is perfect for beginners. It is so simple to make, requires just two materials, and is easily customized to make something truly unique. If you’re looking for a creative DIY idea to decorate your home on a budget, this is a fantastic option.
To make this DIY macrame wall hanging, all you’ll need is:
If you want to get even more creative with this wall hanging, you could use multiple coloured yarns and create a rainbow or ombre effect.
To make your DIY macrame wall hanging:
Starting from the top of the ring, measure out a length of yarn to your desired length. Make sure you leave plenty to hang underneath for the ‘fringe’, then double up this length out cut.
Repeat this process 10 times.
Taking your first length of yarn and find the mid-point. At the top of the ring, create a lark’s foot knot, pull the yarn across the ring, and knot it at the other end. Repeat this 4 more times.
Now it’s time to do the other side. You’ll start off the same way with the lark’s foot, but you’ll then need to weave the yarn in and out of the existing 5 strands before knotting at the other end. Repeat another 4 times, so you have 5 strands on each side, a total of 10 strands of yarn going across the ring.
If you have any blank spaces between your knots at the bottom, measure out and cut some more yarn for the fringe section.
You can keep the fringe straight if you prefer, or cut both sides diagonally to get the inverted triangle fringe as you can see in the photo below.
