Some evenings, there’s nothing better than indulging in a bit of self-care by putting on a face mask, giving your hair a treatment, exfoliating, buffing and moisturising your skin – and ending the day feeling utterly pampered.
Now, many of you may know that one of my biggest not-so-frugal confessions is my skin care routine. I spend a fair chunk money on expensive, high-end, vegan skin care products that have totally cleared up my skin (you can read that story here), and I don’t regret spending that money one bit.
That being said, I am so on-board with trying DIY, frugal beauty hacks that promote a cheaper and more environmentally friendly way to treat yo self.
Lately, I’ve been scouring the internet to find some of the very best at-home beauty treatments that will leave you feeling pampered and preened, while also making a saving on your wallet!
5 Gorgeous DIY Frugal Beauty Hacks to Save Money
1. Herbal Bath Soak Bags
In the summer, I definitely prefer a cool, refreshing shower – but when the cold starts rolling in, there’s nothing more comforting than a hot bath surrounded by candles, mellow music, and a good book.
I love the idea of these herbal bath soak bags made with oats, hops, lavender, and chamomile to leave your skin feeling soft and smooth – and I bet they smell delicious!
I’ve bookmarked this craft idea for when the winter weather arrives, but these bags could also be good as room or drawer scented bags!
2. Peppermint Soak, Scrub, and Body Butter
This set of three peppermint-scented products all have natural ingredients such as peppermint essential oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter and sugar.
The article suggests bottling each recipe into little jars and giving them away as gifts, but you could easily pick your favourite and make more! I love the sound of the peppermint sugar scrub.
3. Lip Scrubs
In the Winter, my lips become chapped and sore from the cold and wind. In the summer, I can easily dehydrate and my lips starting to get dry are one of the first warning signs.
These lip scrubs solve both of those problems, and are super easy to make! I love the sound of the third one – lemony goodness!
4. Bath Bombs
These bath bombs are a great idea to give your skin a pamper while you relax – and I’d love to try making them as gifts for friends and family!
While this recipe uses witch hazel, you could easily use different scents of essential oils, and even put rose petals or lavender in for a gorgeous effect when the bath bomb fizzes!
5. Hair Masks
I’m infamously bad at scheduling myself in for regular haircuts (I recently got one done after 18 months!), so I love trying at-home treatments to keep it looking healthy and soft.
These hair coconut oil masks require minimal ingredients and can be left on while you’re relaxing in the evenings.
Have you tried any of these beauty hacks yet? Let me know which you’re planning on trying for a budget-friendly pamper evening!
